MODUS OPERANDI


Every project presents infinite possibilities.  I find solutions.  I am a modernist, but not for sake of style. 
I embrace context.  I focus on the details.  I am hands on, and enjoy wearing many hats.  I like to work with
both sides of my brain.  I am process driven.  Above all, I want to make good buildings.  Form IS function. 





EDUCATION


Master of Architecture degree - M.Arch - Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc)........1989-93

Design and Architecture studies at Copenhagen University, Denmark (DIS)..........1988
        Included study tours to Sweden, Finland, and former U.S.S.R.

Bachelor of Arts degree - BA - art history major - University of British Columbia, Canada (UBC)........1983-87


 
 

WORK EXPERIMENTS


'84 - '87         Work construction through summers and hang drywall following graduation from UBC.  Learn                                 intricacies of building materials and construction.

'88               Construct traditional Danish wood fence outside of Copenhagen following European study.  Travel
                        to Hamburg and buy a used motorcycle.  Spend 6 months traveling through Western, Eastern,
                            and Southern Europe, including East and West Berlin, Athens, and Barcelona.  Shoot
                                lots of Kodachrome.

'90 - '93        Discover design/build process between summers and classes at SCI-Arc through odd commissions,                             including a fireplace mantle, built-in furniture, and a bungee chair.  Co-design and build a
                            clothing store in South Beach, Miami, following graduation from SCI-Arc.

'93                Founded Aedifice Rex - a Los Angeles based Design/Build firm - after graduation from SCI-Arc. 

'94                Become a licensed General Building Contractor in the State of California. 





'93 - PRESENT...  


AEDIFICE REX  has designed and/or constructed more than 50 structures over the last 19 years, primarily in Southern California, but also as far away as Florida, and Vancouver, British Columbia.  Projects include residential as well as commercial buildings, and range from large renovations, second story additions, to
new buildings.  We are an experienced and dedicated team of craftsmen, tradesmen, and professionals,
with an attention to detail - and constant quality of workmanship - no matter the size of the project.
